Dial, Hands and Markers

We chose a matte-colored dial, finished with a vertical brushing; contrasting subtly with the polished markers and hands to bring out interplays of shadow, refraction and depth. This exploration of finishes across Model A’s components has been driven by our fascination with modern motorcycle design makers like Deus Ex Machina, Thrive MC or Sartorie – whose work was begging to be carried over onto a watch.

Designing the hands has been one of the most exciting parts of the development process, with one of the biggest points of contention resting on whether to lume the hands or leave them skeletonized. While lume is always a crowd pleaser, the danger would be hands that dominate the dial and upset the balance we’d fought hard to hit.

One evening, on finding myself transfixed over this Deus bike, and staring at the wheels, the choice was made for me. They had to be open. That said, there’s a still a little dab of Super-Luminova on the hands and markers for those who enjoy their night maneuvers.
